Downtown Durham shoots

It’s been a productive year so blogs are on a time-delay, so to speak. These are a few shoots captured in downtown Durham, North Carolina late this summer. Spaces is a coworking er…space in the new 555 Mangum office building, built by McDonald York Construction.  As the stairs navigate up four flights to the second floor, you can see a LOT of exposed HVAC pipes and ducts. not only from the ceiling but the wall beyond.

There’s quite a series of different types of co-working spaces, from the bar area to cubicle systems, to cafe-style setups and typical office rooms.

Immediately adjacent to 555 Mangum are the Van Alen Luxury Apartments, designed by Cline Design.  The footprint of these apartments is enormous, with 4-stories worth of apartments filling most of the space, and a mid-rise tower emerging adjacent to building 555.

Everytime I see this building, I think “Van Halen” instead of Van Alen.  Standing on top of the world, for a little while.  Speaking of which, the rooftop amenity has great views of downtown Durham, and the Bulls baseball park beyond.

Cline Design also was the architect of Solis Brightleaf, located in a high-traffic area near Brightleaf Square.

Public building spaces and amenities filter out to a covered entry and balcony facing the street.

Solis has a subtle brown and wood palette throughout much of the interiors.

Elevated above street-level is a pretty sizable pool area.

Just a quick blog for now, there’s more to come as I continue to play catch-up!
