The Lansdowne Theater

I was recently in the Philadelphia area to photograph the Lansdowne Theater in Pennsylvania. A little about the theater – the building is on the National Historic Register and operated until 1986. It’s old and in disrepair, but as you can deduce from the lights – not abandoned. Like many historic buildings there have been several failed attempts to save and restore this structure.

Well, there’s a little bit of money. And an architect. Who put together some plans. Now there’s a letter-sized sign on the door displaying a building permit issued in January. The new renovations (refreshing the main theater, adding new restroom facilities and bars, adding a new back of the house) are scheduled to be complete for re-opening 2017. I personally think that’s a little optimistic, especially when dealing with historic preservation, but nice to see actual progress. Enjoy the pics!
