Whew, it’s been a month since the last blog! Things have been a good busy this spring. Much of April and early May was filled with clouds and rain so much of my time was spent frequently updating weather.com. Needless to say I was very thankful once the drops faded away!
It also marked the beginning of this year’s photography for M/I Homes in Raleigh. These are some of the good people of M/I who sign my checks, donating to Go Red For Women. (See? I can shoot people once in awhile.)
Which got me thinking – can these checks be signed and cashed ala Happy Gilmore? Could M/I get me one of these hugeass checks to deposit at my bank?
So these are takes from the first four models I’ve shot for M/I this year at Madison Glen in Durham, Flowers Plantation in Clayton, Briar Chapel in Chapel Hill, and South Lakes in Fuquay Varina. Enjoy and see you next time around.
So after going to Arkansas, Dallas, Arkansas again, and Memphis, it was time to get back to work (like how I pimped those blogs? You betcha). Wrapped up a house in the Copperleaf community in Cary for home builder J.P. Swain and shoot of the Courtyard apartments in Chapel Hill for Olive Design + Build. Didn’t have control over time of day like I would’ve preferred with Courtyard, so made the most of it with the windows.
This is the West End Village in Winston-Salem. The biggest challenge with existing multi-family residential buildings is well – they’re lived in. In this particular case, all of the residents kept their blinds and shades closed all day. Even when arriving a few days earlier with a letter, knocking on tenant doors, it was still impossible to get the unobstructed windows that I desired. So I waited until after sunset with sunlight still reflecting from the windows to capture the two buildings that form West End.
This is looking down to a building addition at the Higgins Lodge, a Christian camp run by the Moravian church in Laurel Springs.
In May I did more marketing photography for M/I Homes Raleigh in four of their model homes located at Flowers Plantation in Clayton, Ballentine in Chapel Hill, and Belmont in north Raleigh. Interior designer is Mary Cook Associates out of Chicago. These are a few takes:
Did some photography for the Downtown Raleigh Home Tour for the second year in a row. This is a sampling of the homes I got to check out. The first one featured here (first four photos) was definitely my favorite of the bunch, so bright and cheery:
Last image is a ballroom in the Sir Walter Raleigh Apartments. ‘Til next time!
After shooting for M/I last month, I returned to Wood Creek this month for a brief shoot for John Wieland Homes, based out of Atlanta. Took an exterior shot and three interior views of their Donovan model home:
Had my first series of shoots with kitchen designers The Kitchen Specialist out of Durham, North Carolina. Photographed five different kitchens of various designs in Durham, Chapel Hill, and Hillsborough. Below are a few shots:
By far, this has been my busiest year as a professional photographer, it’s been incredible and I’m grateful to have fun and awesome clients to work with. I recently wrapped up a series of shoots for M/I Homes in Holly Springs, NC in conjunction with their new interior designers, Mary Cook Associates who have done a tremendous job improving the staging of M/I’s model homes nationwide. Mary and her assistant flew down from Chicago for an all day shoot for even further staging including fresh flowers, vegetables, swapping out small furniture and household items, etc. Over the next couple of weeks I wrapped up both exterior and interior of the model houses.
